A simple training session can become the beginning of a life-changing journey.

What may appear to be an ordinary training session often carries the potential to create meaningful and lasting change. For persons with disabilities, opportunities in sports can become pathways toward confidence, independence, discipline, inclusion, and personal growth.

The Bhutan Paralympic Committee is currently organizing a Para Sports Coaching and Structured Training Program at Draktsho Vocational Training Centre in Trashigang from 15th to 24th May 2026 as part of its continued efforts to promote inclusive sports opportunities for persons with disabilities across Bhutan.

This training program serves as a follow-up initiative to the para sports awareness program conducted by BPC last year, during which several potential athletes were identified.

Through continued engagement and structured coaching, the program aims to nurture talent, encourage participation, and create greater awareness about the importance of inclusion in sports.

The training focuses mainly on Para Athletics (Shot Put), Para Shooting, and Boccia, involving five identified participants with disabilities. One of the key objectives of the initiative is to identify athletes with the potential to further improve through higher-level national training and eventually participate in selection trials for future national representation.

Beyond athlete identification and skill development, the program seeks to inspire more persons with disabilities to actively participate in sports and recognize that disability should never limit talent, ambition, or future opportunities.

The structured coaching sessions emphasize fundamental movement skills, physical fitness, sport-specific techniques, strength and conditioning, teamwork, coordination, discipline, and confidence-building in a safe and supportive environment.

Throughout the program, participants have demonstrated enthusiasm, commitment, and determination, showing noticeable progress in technical skills, physical conditioning, teamwork, and self-confidence. More importantly, the training has become a platform for empowerment, motivation, and social inclusion.

The Bhutan Paralympic Committee extends its sincere appreciation to Draktsho Vocational Training Centre for their valuable support, cooperation, hospitality, and commitment throughout the program. BPC looks forward to strengthening future collaboration and continuing efforts to create more opportunities for persons with disabilities through sports.
