Bhutan Paralympic Committee Announces the 6th Paralympic Festival
The Bhutan Paralympic Committee (BPC) is proud to announce the 6th Paralympic Festival, set to take place on 24 May 2025 at the BAF Athletics Ground in Lungtenzampa, Thimphu. This national-level celebration is dedicated to promoting inclusive sports and honoring the talent, strength, and spirit of persons with disabilities across Bhutan.
This year’s theme, “Para Sports in Action – Inclusion and Celebration,” reflects a powerful message: that sports have the potential to create a more compassionate and connected society. The festival stands as a vibrant call to recognize ability over disability, and to embrace diversity through meaningful participation.
More than 250 students from Special Education Needs (SEN) schools, including Draktsho Vocational Training Centre and Wangsel Institute for the Deaf, will come together with their peers and over 100 student volunteers. Through a dynamic day of para-sports and inclusive activity stations, participants will experience the joy of movement, teamwork, and the unifying power of sport.
The festival aims to:
Promote inclusive participation in sports and amplify visibility for persons with disabilities.
Engage youth with disabilities in physical activity that builds self-esteem and confidence.
Encourage empathy and inclusive values among youth, educators, and the public.
Raise awareness of the core Paralympic values: Courage, Determination, Inspiration, and Equality.
The activities are designed not just for fun, but for transformation — offering hands-on experiences in adaptive sports that inspire deeper understanding and lasting connections between participants of all abilities.
