Cheyang Kuenchap’s Asian Para Games Journey

Bhutanese para-badminton player Cheyang Kuenchap has concluded his campaign at the Aichi-Nagoya 2026 Asian Para Games in Japan, marking another important step in his sporting journey and gaining valuable experience on the continental stage.

Representing Bhutan at one of Asia’s biggest multi-sport events, Cheyang stepped onto the court with the responsibility of carrying the nation’s flag and the determination to compete against some of the continent’s finest para-athletes. While his journey at the Games has come to an end, the experience he has gained will serve as an important foundation for his continued development as an athlete.

Competing at this level brings more than the opportunity to win. It offers athletes the chance to understand the demands of international competition, assess their strengths, identify areas for improvement and learn from opponents who have spent years developing their skills. For Cheyang, the Asian Para Games is an opportunity to take these lessons forward and use them to prepare for future challenges.

Although Cheyang’s campaign in Japan has concluded, his journey in para-badminton is far from over. There is still much to learn, room to improve and greater potential to pursue. With commitment, patience and consistent preparation, this experience can become a stepping stone towards stronger performances and new opportunities to represent Bhutan on the international stage.

Sporting journeys are not defined by a single competition. They are shaped by the willingness to learn from every experience, rise after every setback and return with renewed determination. For developing athletes like Cheyang, the lessons gained today can help build the confidence and ability needed to meet tomorrow’s challenges.

As Cheyang returns home from the Asian Para Games, the focus now turns to training, development and preparation for the road ahead. His participation in Japan is a reminder that representing the country is itself a responsibility carried with pride, while every international appearance creates an opportunity to grow and move closer to future goals.

The journey may have ended in Japan, but Cheyang’s story continues. With hard work, perseverance and continued support, he will have the opportunity to build on this experience, strive for better performances and work towards representing Bhutan with even greater confidence and pride in the competitions to come.
