Powerful Celebration of Inclusion and Ability
6th Paralympic Festival 2025 Successfully Concludes
Unity in Sports
The 6th Paralympic Festival 2025 successfully concluded yesterday at the Thimphu Athletics Stadium, leaving behind a trail of joy, inspiration, and unity. Held under the theme “Para Sports in Action,” the festival brought together over 450 children with disabilities from Special Educational Needs (SEN) schools in Thimphu and Paro. They were supported by 100 enthusiastic student volunteers and cheered on by hundreds of guests, parents, and well-wishers.
Her Royal Highness Ashi Eeuphelma Choden Wangchuck, President of the Bhutan Paralympic Committee, graced the festival as the Chief Guest. Her Royal Highness spent heartfelt moments with the children, visited activity stations, and officially launched the Bhutan Paralympic Committee’s website — www.bhutanparalympiccommittee.org — marking a key milestone in the Committee’s digital journey.
The event featured interactive para sports activities, cultural performances by SEN school students, and the announcement of winners of the national art and essay competition. Vibrant exhibition stalls showcased creative products made by children with disabilities from SEN schools and vocational training institutions — a strong statement of their skill, creativity, and potential.
We express our deepest gratitude to Her Royal Highness, the participating children, volunteers, teachers, families, and all supporters. Special appreciation goes to the Ministry of Education and Skills Development, Special Olympics Bhutan, the Korean Paralympic Committee, and international and local partners whose unwavering support made this festival a true celebration of possibility.
