Korean Paralympic Delegation Visits Bhutan Shooting Federation
Ahead of 6th Paralympic Festival
Just a day before the excitement of the 6th Paralympic Festival 2025 kicks off at Thimphu Athletics Stadium, the Bhutan Shooting Federation welcomed a heartfelt visit from delegates of the Korean Paralympic Committee—a meeting filled with warm exchanges, shared wisdom, and a deep sense of solidarity between athletes and leaders from both nations.
Led by Donghyun Bae, Chairman of BDH PRAS Foundation, and Jinowan Jung, President of the Korean Paralympic Committee, the visiting delegation spent the day exchanging knowledge, personal stories, and words of encouragement with Bhutanese athletes and officials. Their visit underscored not only the technical aspects of adaptive sports but also the profound human spirit behind Paralympic movement.
“It is an honor to welcome our Korean friends,” said Mr. Gyamtsho, General Secretary of the Bhutan Shooting Federation, in his opening remarks. “Listening to their experiences was deeply inspiring—not just for our athletes, but for all of us working toward building an inclusive sporting culture in Bhutan.”

The Korean delegation’s presence marks a significant moment in Bhutan’s evolving sports diplomacy. Over the years, the Korean Paralympic Committee and the Bhutan Olympic Committee have cultivated a growing partnership centered around technical training, knowledge-sharing, and the promotion of inclusive sports development.
The Bhutan Shooting Federation, a rising body under Bhutan’s broader Olympic and Paralympic movement, has shown steady progress in adapting shooting disciplines for athletes with disabilities. The visit provided both Korean and Bhutanese delegations a platform to discuss in various areas to collaborate in future.

The meeting highlighted a deeper kinship between the two nations. Bhutan and South Korea, despite their differing scales, share a strong bilateral relationship rooted in mutual respect and cultural exchange. Sport has emerged as a meaningful bridge in this relationship, with the Paralympic movement now playing a central role. The 6th Paralympic Festival will officially commence on May 24th at Thimphu Athletics Stadium, featuring athletes from across Bhutan in events including wheelchair basketball, para archery, and shooting. The spirit of inclusion and international collaboration, lit by today’s encounter, promises to shine bright at tomorrow’s opening.
